Dark Blackened Death Metal From The Abyss

HELL9 is a Dark Blackened Death Metal band founded in 2010 in Salt Lake City, UT, U.S.A by Racso Zeraus (ex-member Colombian metal bands Ravenlord, Soulless, In Lust y Unauthorized).

Racso Zeraus invited to collaborate former bandmates from Unauthorized Javier González (vocals) y Javier León (bass guitar), and from In Lust joined Diego Torres (R.I.P.) as the drummer .

The band started under Code X name releasing their first LP titled “Alternate Reality” in May, 2013, from which is noticeable by its experimental sounds in the range of Melodic Death and Groove Metal. In 2019, after the sudden passing of drummer Diego Torres, the band changed its name to HELL9 and they started to explore darker and heavier nuances, reaching the sounds of Dark Blackened Death Metal, which define the band’s current direction on posture and songwriting.

Between 2019 and 2022, HELL9 led by Racso Zeraus (guitar, bass, keyboards and songwriting) collaborated with Javier González (vocals and lyrics) and Vitaliy Minyaylo, an outstanding musician graduated from Berklee College of Music, and originally from Ukraine living in Denver, CO.

The final result of this collaboration reached its climax by recording a new LP titled “Phoenix Reborn”; the album was released on December 2, 2022; most recording sessions happened in Los Angeles (USA) at Stagg Street Studio and the vocals were tracked in Bogotá (Colombia) at Velvet Estudio.

“Phoenix Reborn” was co-produced by HELL9‘s Racso Zeraus and renowned producer German Villacorta (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Alice Cooper, The Rolling Stones, Zakk Wylde , and Gene Simmons, among others). The album was mixed by German Villacorta at Dynamic Wave Studio in Los Angeles, CA and mastered by outstanding master engineer Maor Appellbaum (Faith No More, Rob Halford, Cathedral, Annihilator, Cynic, Sabaton, among others) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering studio in Los Angeles, CA.

In 2024, HELL9 is preparing to press their “Phoenix Reborn” album in CD and Vinyl formats since its initial release was in all digital stores only. The band is releasing new merch as well that will be available on its hell9.com official website and their official Spotify store.

A new re-mix of “Alternate Reality” has been completed by German Villacorta, and the master will go to Maor Appelbaum in the next few months, release date and available formats are to be announced at the moment.

HELL9 has new music written, currently on pre-production and they will start recording sessions the second semester of 2024 with the goal of releasing a new album in the beginning of 2025, some singles are on their way as well.
